Univariate analysis of single MMP and TIMP biomarkers in CSF of sCAA patients and controls. In our discovery groups, significant elevations were discovered in the sCAA group for MMP-2 (Student’s T-test, p = 0.02), TIMP-1 (Mann–Whitney U, p = 0.002) and TIMP-2 (Mann–Whitney U, p ≤ 0.001). In the validation groups, significant elevations were discovered in the sCAA group for MMP-9 (Mann–Whitney U, p = 0.02) and TIMP-3 (Mann–Whitney U, p = 0.03).
