Experimental procedure. Participants received nine active or sham tDCS sessions (three times per week for 3 weeks). On the first day of the experiment, the participants performed a set of cognitive tests and PET imaging. The participants then moved to the adjacent testing room for the tDCS session. From the second to the eighth visits, the participants performed only the tDCS sessions. On the last day of the experiment (ninth visit), the participants performed the tDCS session, PET scan, and cognitive tests consecutively.
