Apolipoprotein E/amyloid-ß interaction pathways and therapeutic approaches. Amyloid-ß (Aß) and apolipoprotein E (apoE) are predominantly produced by neurons and astrocytes, respectively. ApoE regulates Aß oligomerisation, aggregation and receptor-mediated clearance, contributing to Aß pathology in LOAD. Potential therapeutic approaches are indicated in red.
